Dear Allen,

I don't think Ben's newspapers and other publications were aimed at the elite.

Franklin's use of capitalism to further his finicial gains seem to show how he is not affraid of competition. He may be in fact favoring more competition but at the same token his newspaper businesses were tailored for social elite or middle class members of society. Also anyway Franklin could make a buck could be said too because on one hand he openly did not favor slavery but he still posted many articles from slave owners demanding their slaves back. Must be a captialst ideal or thought.
