Prof. McCloskey received another honorary doctorate this April. From the Copenhagen Business School press:
“Throughout her career, Professor Deirdre N. McCloskey has asked ‘the American question’ in connection with her research … ‘If economists are so smart, why ain’t they rich?’ Although she never gives a simple answer. She is a prime example of how you advantageously combine different skills to understand and act in a modern world.”
A mention in “Op-Ed: Mr. Creative Destruction“
James Pethokoukis. The Daily, 25 May 2012.
“What happened? Well, it wasn’t trade or colonialism or oil or any of the usual suspects. Instead, it seems to have been the emergence of what the brilliant American economist Deirdre McCloskey calls the Bourgeois Deal: Governments, starting in Holland and England in the 1700s, slowly started respecting and rewarding innovators and inventors, despite the near-term disruption they and their new ideas often caused.”
